During the 2019 Annecy Festival, we held our first Animation Bootcamp in Europe at Les Papeteries. This year, we are taking the workshop online for those of you who want to express art in the form of drawings.
We will take three steps in this process with clear goals set for each milestone and highlight the elements that need to be examined. Going through this course will give you a better grasp of what it takes to make expression through drawings possible.
These ideas will be presented by a veteran of the Japanese animation industry with pictures and animation examples to induce exciting discoveries about this craft.

While at Shin-Ei Animation, INAMURA was an in-between animator and in-between checker. After joining Studio Ghibli in 1991 he became a key animator and supervising animator for several productions. Notable works as a key animator include My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), Spirited Away (2001), The Cat Returns (2002), Arrietty (2006) and The Wind Rises (2013). He was the assistant supervising animator on Ponyo (2008) and When Marnie Was There (2014) and was the supervising animator on Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), Tales from Earthsea (2006) and From Up on Poppy Hill (2011). He was also an animator for two Ghibli Museum short films, The Whale Hunt (2001) and Treasure Hunting (2011). Feature films he has worked on after leaving Studio Ghibli include The Boy and the Beast (2015) and Your Name (2016).
TAKEUCHI began his career at Nippon Animation Co., Ltd. in 1976 as a member of the production team. He worked on various hit TV series with directors TAKAHATA Isao and MIYAZAKI Hayao who were both at Nippon Animation at the time. He joined Telecom Animation Film Co., Ltd. in 1980 where many of his first projects were with MIYAZAKI and TAKAHATA who had also moved to Telecom. Together they worked on numerous TV shows and feature films such as Lupin the 3rd, Sherlock Hound, Chie the Brat, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland and more.
Recently, he is devoted to fostering young animation creators and has been designated to design and execute workshops for the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs.
